Music is powerful.

Resonating music through your body is even more powerful.

Join us for a special weekend retreat where group singing is the medium through which we explore our inner strength, discover our authentic voices, and align with the healthiest and happiest version of ourselves. How can singing do all of this?

Studies show that people who sing in groups are happier. This is partly due to the high levels of oxytocin (the feel-good hormone) released in the brain during the act of singing. Singing also improves immune function, posture, breathing, mental and emotional states. Here are a few of our favorite links if you’re interested in learning more:

Music has the power to alter our mood, raise our energy, and change our vibrational field.

While we are singing, sound waves move through our bodies vibrating every organ, muscle and cell within us. When this is paired with positive reinforcement (i.e. the pleasure of singing) and positive intention, the physical body assumes a higher frequency of vibration. From this expanded state we are more patient, more loving, more creative, and more compassionate towards others and ourselves.

Music also has the power to strengthen self confidence, expand self awareness, and enhance our authentic expression. Through the simple act of hearing our own voice we strengthen our sense of Self and claim our presence energetically.

On this retreat there is one truth about singing - there is no way you can do it wrong.

What will we do on the retreat?

Friday 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Through vocal activities as well as group sharing and meditation we explore what it means to resonate and establish a cohesive group energy. We allow this energy to inspire us through the process of creating an original song together. We close the evening with a musical sound healing.

Saturday 9:00am - 4:30pm

The first half of the day we focus inward, tuning in to you to discover our unique expressions through vocal techniques, physical body alignment, and interactive experiences. After lunch we shift to a more outward focus. How can we align with the group, our desires, our greater purpose? Here we explore balance and body motion, breath and tone, and we further cultivate our original song.

Sunday 8:00am - 11:00am

We will put into action all that we have assimilated over the past two days through a live performance during the Sunday morning gathering at the Center for Spiritual Living.

Who Are We?

We’re Sam and Luci. Our experience in music therapy, music performance, voice coaching, sound healing, yoga, meditation, spiritual discovery, and world travel combine in the Spark Music Retreat as we share the best of what we know life can be. We’ve been married just over a year, and in this first year we have discovered a more enjoyable life than we ever knew possible. We have learned how to give ourselves permission to live our dream life, and take everyone higher in the process. It’s a changing world and we desire to create the world we want to live in starting now in our own lives. Music and singing are a very big part of our daily engagement with life, and we notice the power of singing together. We want to share this power, this pleasure, and this liberation to everyone!

Why are we doing this?

When you feel good, it’s like the universe opens up. You have more patience, more compassion, more gentleness towards yourself, more inspired ideas, more peaceful feelings. We change the world by changing our worlds first. The more empowered, relaxed, naturally high people there are in the world, the more peace there will be on the planet. We’ve personally witnessed the power singing has to unite groups of people while empowering each individual. It’s beautiful, enlightening, and so much fun! It fills us with happiness to get the opportunity to share this with others.

From an early age Sam was fascinated by music. As a child his parents would find him making beats on his Fisher-Price drum kit and singing into his handheld tape recorder. As soon as he was old enough to work, Sam got a job at the local music store. There he was exposed to musicians, instruments, and his first taste of the stage. From that moment on, Sam was clear on what he wanted to be when he grew up - a rockstar. After moving from Maryland to Florida at 19 years old, Sam began his professional music career in St. Augustine playing 5 nights a week, garnering what could be deemed “local celebrity” status. This led to an opportunity to join world touring musician, Zach Deputy on his upcoming tour, playing rhythm guitar and serving as the tour manager. This gig had Sam living his dream, playing in front of thousands at venues and festivals all over North America. After leaving Zach Deputy to pursue writing original music, Sam met his wife and together they created the high-vibe duo, Sam and Luci.

Luci’s passion for sound and melody started in infancy. She discovered music therapy at the University of Georgia where she studied piano and voice. After college she moved to New York City and began her career as a music therapist, working at the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function. After performing at the annual fundraiser with a stroke patient who had made an incredible recovery, recording artist, Moby, who was in attendance that evening, asked her to join his band on keyboards and backup vocals for his upcoming world tour. This led to her next gig touring with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra also on keys and back up vocals. During her New York years Luci had the pleasure of performing with greats like Steven Tyler, Lou Reed, Tricia Yearwood, and Joe Walsh among many others, and on several TV shows including Jay Leno, Conan O'Brian, and Jimmy Fallon to name a few. In 2014 she took a break from the rock and roll world to focus on her original music project. In the process she moved to St. Augustine, Florida where she met her husband, Sam Williams, and the rest is history!

Is this weekend for me?

This weekend is for you:

  • if you love to sing and want to explore your true voice

  • if you’re interested in expanding the power of your voice, both sung and spoken

  • if you want to step more solidly into confidence and clarity of who you truly are

  • if you’re excited by the idea of making new friends and authentically express yourself

  • if you desire to spark inspired action in your life

Your level of singing experience does not matter. What does matter is your desire to dare to open yourself to more and more expansion. In the expanded state we feel love so easily, we feel compassion, access our patience, and receive creative insight. In this state we heal ourselves. If your desire is to spend more time in this energy, plus learn techniques that you can use every day to guide you there, then this retreat is for you.
